Cory Dorfner

Founder & Principal Engineer, Violet Summit Forge

Bio

I'm Cory Dorfner, the founder and principal engineer at Violet Summit Forge. Before starting VSF, I spent years as a senior engineer building and operating production systems — the kind of work where you're still the one paged at 2 a.m., so the incentive to build things right is never abstract.

I started VSF to keep senior ownership directly accessible to clients — without the layers that grow between the people who understand a problem and the people building the solution. I stay hands-on across our engagements, from the first architecture decision through production.

My work spans custom software builds, integrations with the enterprise systems a client already depends on, and AI/ML features designed to hold up past a demo. Outside of client engagements, I keep a running set of personal projects to stay hands-on with new tools before I'd ever recommend one.

Working Principles

  1. Ownership

Every engagement is owned end to end, from the first architecture decision through what happens in production after launch.

  2. Direct Senior Access

You work with the senior engineer building your project — no account-manager layer, no telephone game between you and the code.

  3. Engineering Judgment

We recommend the boring, proven option over the exciting one that adds risk a client didn't ask for.

  4. Right-Sized Solutions

The best fix is the smallest one that actually holds — built for the problem a client has today, not a hypothetical one.
